Hi, my name is Catherine GearyI am a BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor. I offer short term and long term Online Therapy for adults with disordered eating and eating disorders or who struggle with their relationship with food and their body in some way.

Although I specialise in working with individuals who have eating issues it’s almost always the case that our work extends far beyond just food. And this is a really important part of how I work with clients.

I believe that eating issues are rooted in our emotions and past experiences and that to really recovery from disordered eating we must address the psychological as well as the behavioural aspects.

To learn more about my approach see the Home Page.

I completed my training in individual psychodynamic counselling in North London. In addition to my counselling qualification I hold a first class Masters degree in Psychology where my research was specialised in eating disorders and body image. I have also completed CBT for eating disorders training and I have a special interest in Intuitive Eating.

Prior to starting my career in counselling, I graduated with a degree in Economics and worked as a senior project manager within a Management Consultancy for 10+ years. From this work I have retained a strong interest in taking a collaborative approach with my clients.  I will help you explore your life experience to understand where your issues came from and find the most meaningful shifts and insights which will ultimately help you recover and work with you together on the things you would most like to improve in your life.

I welcome clients of all backgrounds, regardless of ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity.
