Take the first step to finding freedom with food

If so you have come to the right place! And you don’t need an eating disorder diagnosis to seek therapy…

Hi, my name is Catherine and I am here to help you find freedom with food. I am a BACP registered therapist and my therapy practice, Food Freedom Therapy, is based in Belfast. Through this I provide 1 to 1 therapy for adults who are struggling with their relationship with food. You may have a diagnosed eating disorder such as bulimia, binge eating disorder or anorexia, but this might not necessarily be the case. It’s common for people to struggle with sub-clinical ‘disordered eating’ where they don’t meet the threshold for an eating disorder but their relationship with food and their body needs work and is impacting their life in a negative way. It may be that you find yourself in a cycle of bingeing and restriction or secretly eating. Maybe food and how you think about food and your body is getting in the way of your social life, maybe your relationships are suffering or you feel you have low self-esteem. It might be that you understand why your relatonship with food hasd gone awry, or maybe you ave no idea where these thoughths and behaviours havecome from,

What I offer

The services I offer includes long term open ended therapy, short term therapy (12 sessions) and therapy intensives (one or two longer sessions at a time). For further details, please see the Therapy on my website page here.

Having trained in psychodynamic counselling in London and after working there for several years I recently moved back to Belfast, and since then have launched Food Freedom Therapy.

I am an integrative therapist, that means I use a range of techniques in my approach. I like to combine psychodynamic counselling, enhanced CBT for eating disorders and the principle of intuitive eating in our sessions. This provides us with a range of tools to help you feel better now and also the ability to do the deeper work required to get to the root of your eating issues recover from disordered eating for good in the long term.
